Stay in control
Responsible gambling
Gambling can be a form of entertainment, but it also carries real risk. There is no system, no strategy and no operator that can change that. This page covers some practical things you can do to stay in control, and where to get free, confidential help in the UK if you need it.
Set limits before you play
- Decide on a deposit limit and set it in the operator’s account tools, not in your head.
- Use loss limits and session-time limits where they’re available.
- Treat gambling as a cost, not as a way to make money or recover losses.
- Don’t play with money you can’t comfortably afford to lose.
- Take regular breaks. Reality-check pop-ups exist for a reason — read them.
Signs to take seriously
Spending more than you planned, chasing losses, gambling to escape stress, hiding gambling from people you care about, or feeling anxious about money are all signals worth listening to. None of them are unusual and none of them are something to be ashamed of, but they’re worth acting on early.
